Tribute to a 94 year old veteran who served in 3 different branches
Blustery snow ushered in the day.
Temperatures just above freezing made the snow vanish.
Family gathered together for church services.
Extended family joined in the bountiful lunch.
Everyone made their way to the funeral.
Mourners joined together to honor him.
One grandson spoke memories of him.
The preacher spoke truths of him.
His last ride went past his house toward the cemetery.
Military honors were bestowed.
21 gun salute.
Taps.
It is done.
An honoring service for a great man. 🙂

It seems fitting to have a funeral on a blustery, winter day. I like your imagery.

There is a rhythm in your poem that seemed fitting, like a funeral march perhaps.
And the
Taps
It is done
Struck me as beautiful and also honest.
I hope everyone is all right after this loss.
